just got the car back from lizzard, half the car is apart no tranny, top half of motor,no oil pan,it wasnt pretty.spun #8 rod,now the whole motor has to come out to redo lower half.Matt doesnt feel responsible for what happened,he said all he did was put a cam in,which had nothing to do with spinning a bearing.some how i feel like i got f**ked.now i have a car sitting in the garage in a million pieces.right now all i can say is F lizzard racing

Damm that really sucks. I guess the rod bolts on the LT1s are just as bad as the LS1s..... Good luck on the rebuild.

Sorry to hear Rob, I hope it all works out for you. I didn't like the feeling I got from Matt at Lizzard when I was checking out shops to do my installs:(

Sorry to hear about that Rob. It sucks that Lizzard is not doing anything at all for you. I've heard other stories about them also.

he said he would work with me on the labor if i decide to fix it,but i dont know if i want to go back there, now if i go somewhere else im going to have to pay full labor so im kinda of stuck.so what should i do go there and see what kind of a deal he would give me or just eat the lost and take it somewhere else.

So in other words, you have to spend your money. That is f*(ked up, but keep at it until it gets rebuilt. Keep good dates as well, because if it doesn't go back at least as well as it was before, you might want to make a case out of it.

At this point, I'd let him put it back. You'd have to haul it somewhere, and it is going to cost you anyway. Let him put it back, and if it isn't right, then you'll have to decide if you want a professional to rebuild the entire engine or a transplant or something.

Hang in there Rob, I hope this will work out better for you.

Sorry to hear about your car Rob. Hopefully it will be back to normal soon. I have seen your car before......you take good care of it......If you want it back to normal, I would just find a better shop and put the money into it being re-done correctly. If you dont trust Lizzard, I wouldnt go back to him. Good Luck either way.

Sorry to hear about the spun bearing.. Especially #8.. Same thing happened to my roommate's.. Same bearing too.. Just have someone build a shortblock for ya and then do the install yourself.. it shouldn't be all that bad.... IF you don't mind me asking..How much did you have invested in that cam install? I think you could go back to lizzard as he's willing to work w/ you on the labor.. When dealing w/ old stuff there is just no telling when thingslike this could happen.. it could happen to anyone.. It happened to my roommate not even 150miles on the damned thing.. But then there are people that do fine for 150K.. So its a hit or miss.. Andi can't see how he would be responsible..Unless.. Did you use a double roller timing set? Common mistake is to not clearance the cover and there fore it would shave the cover till it hadthe clearance it needed..Therefore introducing metal into the oiling system.. Might wanna check that if it applies.. SOrry about your loss..Just think..Good excuse to stroke it.. :D i'm still waiting formine to let go.. F"n thing stays together..

Rob:
Damn, that sux man....
Tough call on what to do.
I agree w/ Lester...the car is there, and if Matt will work with you on the labor, then it may be worth it.

But I know when I have a bad experience with a shop, I am real hesitant to let them do any additional work.

Good luck with your decision and your car.

Rob, while you have it apart, maybe it's time for you to built it back up with the good stuff: stronger rod bolts, rods, perhaps domed pistons? Then spray it. I know it all costs more money, which everyone has in short supply, but you'll have piece of mind that the motor should handle the power... If it's sitting around right now and you have a beater to drive, maybe a month more of downtime to research the good stuff or save extra ain't so bad.

Can you drop the insurance on it if it is garaged...more money in your pocket if it will be laid up for a long time.

I see you just didn't trust that guy. Since you have it home now, start scoping out some professional rebuilders (the best- I would want to try to keep the numbers together if its financially feasible). Let her sit until you come up with the money, that's all. Its worth it. Don't let people tell you anything else either. Aside from being an fbody, its an *ss-kicking v8, as well as an SS, so its worth the rebuild.

Good luck, I believe you'll come out of it well-eventually.

Rob, I feel bad about what happened. But they are responsible for it and they should take care of the problem, end of story and I would'nt let them get away with it. Good luck Rob.
