tranny went out friday night for the third time. i was just gettin on the parkway and i hit the gas a lil bit and i heard clicking and the engine was reving out. pulled over, got no forward reverse . it just makes a clicking noise . got it towed home next day started it up, nothing no clicking. so i put it in drive and still nothing i was reving it in drive and it was like it was in neutral. going to tranny shop tommorow morning . they say it could be either a torque converter , flywheel , pump, or sun shell. what do you guys think?

I think that these auto tranny's are POS. To me sounds like the pump but dunno.

now that i think about it you would have some motion with a broken sunshell. None in reverse but forward would creep along. i vote torque converter.

found out the pump and converter went. needs a whole new rebuilt unit . they said that the last trans shop put low quality parts and a used converter . the rebuilt is going to cost about 1800+ . they are going to put in better parts and a much stronger converter . i would put a stall converter in but i dont have the money now. this z is going to stay as is for a while dont have any more cash to fix things or mod anything.
ohh yea i pm'd jeff406cid he gave me some good info and it was exactley what he said it could be.
thanks for all your help

well she is back on the road and is running great. transmission shifts great. i also had them change my rear main seal since it was right there. they also fixed the break switch solenoid since it was very hard to get out of park when cold. as soon as i have the cash im gonna put an auburn differential in
