unsure about the 97 v6 but I do know that my 2001 V8 was very easy. Alittle pulling to get the bellow off was the hardest part ( if you could call that hard :rolleyez: )

I am no mechanic as most on this board will testify. But I can tell you that it was a very easy mod.

6-12 hours labor time... You need to measure everything out and have at least 3 people helping you
Hope this helps!

30 minutes at the most. Just pop the old one off and pop the new one on.

Its not a bad job, maybe an hour. Just make sure you have someone helping you to push down on the piping when you're trying to put the filter on, its a tight fit.

You can do it by yourself but another person can help make things easier.

Definately not a hard job. An hour or so with help - extra hands are always better. Let us know how it goes.

you should NOT need 2 people. Yes, more hands are usually preferred, but come on.. ITS A SWAP of a cold air induction system.

And that 12 hour comment.. YOU HAD TO BE JOKING RIGHT? Next time do the J/K abbreviation. lol

Seriously bro, I pay EVERYONE to do ANYTHING on my car. But even I did this mod on my own.

Steve, the setup on the LT1 is totally different. The piping goes through the whole on the right side of the car, and you have to put the filter on from underneath. The problem is that the piping only comes through the whole about an inch or two, so it is difficult to get the filter onto it without pushing it up. The second person pushes down on it while you push up to put the filter in place. Much easier with two people. Other than this one part, its a one person job.

hmmm.. those damned LT1's seem to be a huge bitch to work on. Not that the Ls1 is any more of a treat to work on.

:rolleyez:

Well, this solidifies it for me. I will never buy a LT1 or a V6 Camaro atleast.

Good luck with the whole CAI install. Let us know how it turns out.. and dont forget to take pictures.. Always good to have an article to post about an install job.

Pretty sure its the same deal on the V6 as the LT1.

by any chance do you need to jack up the car ?

It will help to jack up the car because (if I remember correctly) you have to install the filter from the underneath. I'm sure it can be done without jacking the car though.
